Miss Daviee had on br been home a fort- night. having just finished her two years at Dudley Training College. The funeral will take place on Tuesday at Old Carmel Cemetery.

James was wou,nded about the eame date, and was treated at one of the base hospi- tals. lie is an old pupil of Maesydderwen County School, Ystradgynlais.

CARMARTHEN. ¡ It was reported to the Committee of Viators to the Joint Counties Mental Hospital, Carmarthen, on Thursday that the Local Government Board auditor thought the present fvi.st of paupers' main- tenance was abnormally high compared with other institutions. He also com- plainer] that there were too many matches in stock. It was also reported that again the Board of Control would not eanction the purchase of machinery for the new laundry, but suggested th^ best use be made of the existing plant. It wa.s decided to make a protest.

LLANELLY. Nine boys were prosecuted at the Llanelly Juvenile Court on Thursday for mounting the footboard or a train on the B.P. and G.V. Railway whilst the same was in motion, on June 28.th.-Tho Bench ordered the defendants to pay 5s. 6d. each as oosts. The donations received in connection with Pound Day at the LIanelly Pare Howard Red Croee Ho&pital amounted to £ 566 lis. Two boys were proceeded against at the Llanelly Juvenile Court on Thurs- day for mounting an electric car whilst the fekme was in motion.—Defendants were ordered to pay 5s. Gd. each towards the costs.
